The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival will conduct equity and non-equity members’ auditions for their 2024 TourCo production, The Tempest, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Tom Ridgely, on March 8 2024. Please review all the information below before signing up.

  • FIRST ROUND: Friday, March 8, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • CALLBACKS: Sunday, March 10

TourCo is an entirely free outdoor production that brings 90-minute, family-friendly Shakespearean adaptations to 24 public parks and thousands of people across Missouri and Illinois. The Tempest will rehearse July 2 – July 23, 2024, and performances will occur July 30 – August 25 (Tuesday-Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m.). The production will include music and puppetry; please have any relevant experience in your resume or the timeslot sign-up sheet.

There are six roles:

*Prospero (30s-50s, any race/gender): A once powerful political leader, since deposed and exiled. Now a skilled magician, Miranda’s only living parent and de facto ruler of the island. (SIDE 1, SIDE 2)

*Ariel (10s-30s, any race/gender): An airy spirit, in service to Prospero, gracefully athletic and a capable singer. (SIDE 1, SIDE 2)

*Caliban / Others (20s-40s, any race/gender): An island native subdued by Prospero. (SIDE 1)

*Miranda (10s-20s, any race/gender): A young child of Prospero, isolated on the Island since infancy, falls in love with Ferdinand. (SIDE 1)

*Alonso/Stefano/Others (20s-40s, any race/gender): A political leader, a drunken butler, etc. (SIDE 1)

*Ferdinand / Others (10s-20s, any race/gender): Child of Alonso and in love with Miranda. (SIDE 1)

Audition Process:

  1. Sign up for an audition timeslot. Six auditions per half-hour:
    1. Audition times are full but we will accept walk-ups between noon and 6:00 p.m. Please email with your headshot and resume or bring copies with you. 
  2. Send your resume and headshot to with your first and last name in the subject line. (If you auditioned for the 2024 Park Show in the fall and we already have your current resume and headshot, you can skip this step.
  3. Prepare a side related to your choice role(s).
